In October of 2010, God placed a heavy burden on Pastor Barry's heart for the Palouse community while visiting for his annual deer hunting trip. He felt heavy hearted for the many hurting people he came into contact with who were no longer in church or who had been hurt by other Christians and had walked away from God. He shared his heart with his wife, Anna, and together they began to pray about moving their family from Nampa, Idaho, where they were both on staff at Crossroads Community Church, back home to Moscow, Idaho. After much prayer, they made the decision to follow God's leading and take a huge step in faith to plant a new church on the Palouse.
After an amazing send off from their church in Nampa, Barry and Anna and their two children moved to Moscow in May of 2011. They gathered a team of people who were not currently involved in a church and for six months built relationships with each other and started training as a team. During this time they also organized many community service projects throughout the Palouse.
On December 4, 2011 Intersect Community Church officially launched their weekly Sunday morning services. They continue to be a church who's mission is simple:
Be a refuge of God's conditional love and make disciples.
